Residential lock repairs and replacement
Lock replacement means changing the existing locks for new ones. Rekeying keeps the locks, with a few adjustments, and only changes the keys.
Locks are replaced when there is an issue with the lock, such as when it is broken, damaged or malfunctioning. Locks and keys work in pairs, and the system is compromised if either shows signs of wear and tear, which is why it is best to have them replaced as soon as possible.
Locks are rekeyed when key control is lost, for example when keys are lost or stolen and could fall into the wrong hands. Rekeying renders the old keys completely useless. Both jobs, rekeying in particular, need an in-depth understanding of locking mechanisms and the right tools.
